BUZZ HALE'S TRIBUTE TO 415 SQUADRON
Alistair Mackay, 415 Sqn 1991-1994, was at a fly-in in Gatineau where he met Buzz Hale, who owns a ThunderBee amphibian aircraft painted with Air Force markings. What caught his attention was that he had a large 415 Sqn heraldic crest on the plane. They got talking and found out that the source of his interest in 415 Sqn was Warren Wright. In the windows of his aircraft he also had numerous photos of Sqn aircraft including a poor photo of the tail of an Aurora with a large stylized swordfish. He was very interested in getting a good copy of that picture as he wants to put it on the tail fin instead of the fin flash. (Note: image sent to Buzz) While he has never been a Sqn member, he tours the air show circuit in this aircraft with his own little tribute to the Sqn.
Buzz's aircraft recently won Grand Champion Seaplane at Sun and Fun 2011, and Reserve Grand Champion at EAA Airfair at Oshkosh 2011.
