PEI AIR FORCE HERITAGE PARK
Summerside PEI
by

We are building an Air Force Heritage park here at Summerside. Phase 1
is refinishing the 3 aircraft this year and perhaps get started on
infrastructure for the park. Phase 2 / 2011 will be to complete the park. We
will have a web site up shortly which will be up shortly. We have also set up a
heritage group, Aviation Heritage Society (PEI) Inc to collect, preserve and
promote the aviation heritage of PEI. A separate web site is being set up to
record and display our products, one of which would be the history of 415 Sqn,
not only here but in Toto.
I noted on the 415 web site that there will be great celebrations at ZX in June and that Sqn history book will be updated and displays made for the celebrations of 70th Anniversary of the Sqn's form-up. I further noted that the actual form-up date for 415 Sqn was 20 Aug 1941. Now it just so happens that the Atlantic International Air Show, formerly NS International Air Show, will be held in Summerside 20 /21 Aug 2011 (the actual 70th anniversary for the Sqn).
We are planning to hold the dedication ceremony for our park in conjunction with the air show. It would be an opportunity for 415 Sqn to reunite with Summerside where they spent 20 years. They may wish to find a niche in the celebrations to set up their display left over from RV 2011 etc etc. While I'm up to my ears with the current project, I certainly can act as a link to the 415 Association and will try my best to provide some people here to liaise with them.
Thanks - Wayne
