INTRODUCTION

1.      Welcome.  The Chairman noted that planning for the Seventieth Reunion was continuing and that proposals for Squadron sponsored activities were progressing.  Specific details are available on the RV2011 website.  Monthly RV2001 Committee Meetings can be expected until Christmas break.  As such, it is necessary for the 415 Squadron Association to meet despite the fact that only a few members are available to attend on short notice.

2.     Squadron Display: The principle goal of the meeting was to ensure that progress was being made on the various components of the Squadron Display for the Reunion.  An update of each component follows:

·      Three banners, one for each era (WWII, Summerside, Greenwood) will be produced using a common format with unique photos.  The OPIs are: WWII OPI Chris Larsen, Summerside Chris Henneberry and Greenwood Bert Campbell.  The objective is to have the common format designed prior to Christmas and to have the layouts for each banner completed by mid-January.

·      A visit to the CF Film Archives was scheduled for mid-October to acquire additional photos attributed to 415 Squadron.  These photos will be used, in conjunction with photos held in the Squadron Albums to produce a slide show.   It is planned to have an initial CD produced by February.

·      The Squadron Photo Albums need to be refurbished.  Volunteers are required to take on this project.  At the same time these photos need to be digitized and catalogued.  This issue will need closer attention at the next Association Meeting.

·      Rick Anscomb will assemble a collage of faces for a very large display board.   Anyone possessing a unique attention grabbing photo is requested to provide a copy to Rick for consideration.

·       Calendar Pictures that are in storage will be used as part of the display along with other art work that belongs to the Squadron.  The exact number of pieces that will be used will be decided at a later date.

·       Arrangements have been made with 12 Wing Shearwater and the Shearwater Aviation Museum to loan the necessary props, easels and screens for the entire display.

3.      There is no doubt that this activity will be continuously shaped over the next eight months and that a significant amount of effort will be required to ensure an inclusive presentation within the space provided.  To ensure success the input of many is required to KEEP THE MEMORIES ALIVE.

5.     Invitations: Formal invitations have been sent to all former Commanding Officers and Honourary Colonels.  Unfortunately a list of former Squadron Chiefs and their contact information has not been produced and therefore invites have not been sent.  To date 10 of 16 former COs have responded, of which 5 have indicated their intention to attend the Reunion.  In addition one of three Honourary Colonels has responded and he has indicated his intention to attend.

8.     Reunion Merchandise:  As agreed at the last Association meeting a number of items will be procured for sale at the Reunion and via the Association Website. At present three proposals are being developed and will be presented at the next Association meeting.  Funding will be requested for the purchase of:

a.      Squadron Coin (250);

b.     415 Association Lapel Pin (250);  and

c.      Squadron History CDs (100).

9.    There may also be a desire to procure other items such as a new Squadron Golf Shirt, Squadron Ball Cap, etc ... To ensure success in this area an OPI will be required for each piece of memorabilia, which is sanctioned by the Association.  Where necessary, the Association will provide seed money to advance the purchase of approved merchandise.   Proposals are welcome.
